Allen Richter

Allen Richter, founder of the firm, is a Patent Attorney admitted to practice before the European, Israeli and Swiss Patent Office.

Allen has extensive experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications, domestically and internationally, in a wide range of technologies including software-implemented  inventions, medical devices, communication systems, electro-optics and consumer goods for a variety of clients ranging from early-stage startups to internationally  operating corporations and renowned research institutes. 

Allen has been practicing Intellectual Property law for over ten years and has particular expertise in European, US and Israeli patents and patent rules.

Allen is also well experienced in providing consultative assistance concerning Intellectual Property due diligence, freedom-to-operate opinions and in managing opposition procedures.

Allen holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Tel Aviv University and a M.Sc. in Electro-Optical Engineering from Ben Gurion University.

Last but not least, Allen is a passionate Jazz pianist.

Dr. Gila Shimoni-Elhanati

Dr. Gila Shimoni-Elhanati is a licensed Patent Attorney and the manager of the Chemistry, Pharmacology and Biotech affairs at Richter & Shimoni.

Gila’s professional experience encompasses the drafting and prosecution of hundreds of Pharmaceutical, Chemistry, Agrotech, Medicine and Biotech patent applications with particular emphasis in the organic chemistry, peptides and formulation areas. Gila’s legal work further includes the drafting of patentability and freedom to operate opinions, handling appeal matters and advising on patent portfolio strategy.

Gila has been providing legal services to dozens of clients which include leading universities and research institutes, chemical and pharmaceutical companies, start-ups and private clientele.

Prior to the founding of the firm, Gila worked as a patent attorney in a major Israeli patent firm in Israel and was a partner in a boutique patent firm.  Gila also held teaching positions at various academic institutions. 

Gila holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from Ben Gurion University, and a Ph.D. in Biophysics from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. After completing her Ph.D., Gila pursued her Post-doctoral project at the Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel.

Joe Cherson

Joe Cherson is a licensed Israel Patent Attorney and registered US Patent Agent with more than 15 years intellectual property practice.

Joe specializes in tech areas including telecommunications & networks, computers, microchip technology, digital signal processing, power systems, mobile devices, imaging systems. video systems, control systems, algorithm-based systems, robotics, Internet, bio-medical devices, and alternative energy sources.  

Joe has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent and trademark applications, developing IP strategy and building IP portfolio for both start-up and established technology companies, conducting due-diligence investigations and freedom-to-operate studies, performing searches, and more.   

His work experience spans more than 35 years  in diverse tech areas including as a major consultant to the largest defense industries in Israel assisting them interface with the US Government  and as a technology transfer expert to agro-tech companies in Israel setting up BTO projects in Europe. 

Joe possesses an Electronics Engineering Bachelors of Science degree from Tufts University in Massachusetts, and completed numerous courses at Tel Aviv University towards an advanced degree in Electronics Engineering. 

Dr. André Kasche (Of Counsel)

André Kasche is a Swiss, German and European patent, design and trademark attorney. He studied chemistry and mathematics at the Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, USA, as well as biochemistry, organic chemistry, and chemical engineering at the University of Hannover, Germany.

His doctorate was awarded by the Max Planck Institute of Endocrinology on the synthesis of antihormones and the study of their affinity in in-vitro and animal models. He has broad industrial practice including chemical research. 

His technical emphasis is on life sciences, the pharmaceutical industry, organic chemistry and in particular the area of biotechnology. 

His IP experience includes working for Boehringer Ingelheim GmbH and the offices of Kutzenberger & Wolff in Cologne and Gruenecker & Partner in Munich.
